THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a rare and impactful opportunity for a senior medical leader to shape the future of early detection services across Queensland. As the State Clinical Director of BreastScreen Queensland, you will lead clinical excellence, champion innovation, and drive strategic initiatives within a statewide, multidisciplinary program committed to improving women’s health outcomes. Working in collaboration with leading clinicians, researchers, and public health experts, you will oversee clinical operations, workforce capability, and the implementation of new models of care. THE ROLE
- To provide strategic and professional clinical leadership to the BreastScreen Qld program as part of the BSQ State Coordination Unit. This includes new and emerging models of care, innovations, screening technologies and alternative screening strategies that improve the way breast cancer screening and assessment services are delivered across the state.
- To represent state interests in national program initiatives or at relevant national and state forums, as directed by Department of Health officials.
- To provide clinical oversight and operational management of the BSQ Statewide Coordinated Reading Model (SCRM) and BSQ Expanded Service Delivery Model, including managing screen readers and the multidisciplinary clinical workforce.
THE CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
- Expertise and leadership in a large public health program or health service delivery environment preferably in a breast health or women’s health area.
- Possess clinical leadership skills including advanced level critical thinking and reasoning, problem-solving, negotiation and high-level communication skills to maintain effective collaborative work relationships with a wide range of partners and stakeholders to ensure effective team functioning, positive patient outcomes and the achievement of departmental and program objectives.
- Knowledge of or an ability to acquire knowledge of the philosophy and future directions of the BreastScreen Australia program and BreastScreen Queensland Program, including policies, regulations, standards and systems/models which impact upon the position.
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly obtain and understanding of statewide screen reading and networked workforce models.
Possess excellent organisational skills and experience in managing high volume workload with inflexible deadlines, and competing and sometimes unpredictable priorities, in a demanding professional environment subject to rapid change and development. - Possess high level governance experience, including membership and active contribution to governance committees.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and promote innovative models and experience in quality improvement activities/clinical audits, participating in continuing professional development activities as directed by the relevant specialist college and supervisor/manager to maintain registration and personal professional improvement.
