Within its Surgery and Statewide Services Division, the Surgery Program delivers a broad range of perioperative, planned, and specialty surgical services across Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong, Moorabbin, Casey, Monash Children’s, Cranbourne Community Hospital, and Cranbourne Integrated Care Centre. This includes complex tertiary surgical care, multidisciplinary specialty services, and BreastScreen operations. THE ROLE
Reporting to the Divisional Director, Surgery and Statewide Services, the Operations Director provides strategic and operational leadership across perioperative services, planned surgery, surgical specialties, and BreastScreen. The role is accountable for delivering safe, high‑quality care, achieving financial and operational targets, leading workforce engagement and development, and implementing reform to improve access to both planned and acute surgery. It also plays a key role in fostering collaborative relationships with clinical leaders, enhancing patient experience, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across all sites and services.
THE CANDIDATE
You are an experienced senior healthcare leader with a strong track record of managing complex, multi‑site surgical operations within a large tertiary health service. With tertiary qualifications in health, nursing, medicine, or a related discipline (and AHPRA registration or professional eligibility), you bring expertise in clinical and operational governance, financial stewardship, and strategic reform. You are a collaborative and innovative leader, committed to delivering safe, high‑quality, patient‑centred surgical services while driving service improvement and workforce excellence. Postgraduate qualifications in management, leadership, or health administration are essential (or you are actively working towards them).
