Reflections on the GV Health Leadership Program

As facilitator of the GV Health Leadership Program, I have now completed three of the five Leadership Masterclasses with the current cohort, and it has been a pleasure to work with the group.

What has stood out most is the genuine interest participants have shown in the material and in each other. There has been good energy in the room thoughtful discussion, practical examples, and plenty of humour. People have been willing to share their experiences openly and to learn from one another.

What excites me most is the longer-term benefit for participants. Leadership development is not about a single workshop, it’s about building confidence over time. Throughout the sessions, we have explored theory that supports everyday leadership practice, and there have been some clear “light bulb” moments as participants connect concepts to situations they are currently navigating. That ability to pause, reflect, and apply new thinking to real challenges is where the value sits. When leaders grow in self-awareness and feel more confident in how they influence, support and challenge their teams, the impact is lasting both for them personally and for the people they lead.

There is strong capability within this group. Many are already experienced leaders, and this program is helping them strengthen their approach and build connections across the organisation. It is also clear that GV Health is committed to supporting its people. Providing time for leaders to come together, think, and develop their skills is an important investment in the organisation’s future.

With two sessions still to come, I look forward to seeing the group continue to build on this strong foundation.
