North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) provides timely access to high-quality health care, embracing acknowledged best practice to deliver improved clinical outcomes in the face of rising challenges for all healthcare providers. The NMHS comprises a mix of tertiary, specialist, and generalist hospitals. Our north metropolitan catchment area covers almost 1000 square kilometres. We are seeking an exceptional nursing and midwifery leader for the role of Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery Services at the NMHS.
As the Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery Services, you will lead the design and commissioning of a new organisation‑wide model, strengthening alignment, workforce sustainability and standards of care across a large and complex health service.
THE ROLE
In this role, you will:
- Lead the development and implementation of a contemporary, organisation‑wide nursing and midwifery service model, including workforce design and service planning.
- Strengthen professional governance, clinical standards and interprofessional collaboration to improve patient outcomes.
- Lead the adoption of digital health and innovative models of care, including nurse‑led and midwife‑led models.
- Provide NMHS‑wide professional leadership and stewardship for nursing and midwifery practice, standards and performance.
- Build partnerships with academic, research and professional bodies to support education, research and capability development.
- Provide expert strategic advice to the Chief Executive and NMHS Board on clinical, workforce and service delivery priorities.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Demonstrated success leading nursing and midwifery services across a large, complex health organisation, driving strategic reform and organisational performance.
- Proven ability to develop and implement contemporary workforce, service delivery and professional governance models that improve quality, sustainability and patient outcomes.
- Exceptional ability to engage, influence and develop multidisciplinary teams while building trusted relationships with executive leaders, clinicians, government and external partners.
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, safety, quality and regulatory frameworks, together with experience leading improvement and innovation across complex healthcare environments.
- Eligibility for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
