Decoding Queensland Health’s $33.1 Billion Plan
HardyGroup was delighted to host a table at the ACHSM Budget Breakfast, where Queensland Health Director-General Dr David Rosengren presented the 2025–26 Health Budget, outlining a record $33.1 billion investment to strengthen health services across the state.
Dr Rosengren detailed the $18.53 billion Hospital Rescue Plan—the largest health infrastructure investment in Queensland’s history which will deliver 2,600 new hospital beds, modernised facilities, and improved access to care across Queensland.
This landmark investment focuses on capacity, stability, and timely access, ensuring Queenslanders receive world-class healthcare when they need it most.
Dr Rosengren also highlighted the significant workforce challenge ahead, with Queensland Health needing to recruit an additional 46,000 staff by 2032—including doctors, nurses, paramedics, and allied health professionals. This ambitious target is part of the state’s Health Workforce Strategy, aimed at tackling pressing issues such as burnout, high turnover, and regional workforce shortages. Stakeholders have emphasised that achieving this goal will require not only recruitment but also systemic reforms in training, retention, and workforce wellbeing.
HardyGroup values opportunities like this to engage with sector leaders on the challenges and opportunities that will shape the future of healthcare delivery in Queensland. It was also a pleasure to see so many familiar faces at the event, and we greatly appreciated those who took the time to stop by and connect with us at our table.
