The Ingham Hospital part of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service is now seeking an experienced Director of Clinical Services / Medical Superintendent to provide medical leadership and high-quality clinical services for hospital inpatients and outpatients as a part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering integrated primary and secondary level health services to the Ingham community.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Medical administrator, with a passion for regional health care provision, to live and work in the beautiful regional town of Ingham in Queensland.

The Ingham Health service is a 28-bed inpatient facility with emergency and general surgical services and the role has 11 FTE medical staff reporting to it.

To be a strong candidate for the role you will be qualified as a medical practitioner, have qualifications in speciality areas and current registration and / or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.  Fellowship of either the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or equivalent Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) i.e., Rural Generalist, Rural Vocational Practitioner, Professional Fellow or Rural Practitioner.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • competence in rural generalist practice which is practised at a high level of clinical acumen
  • competence in medical administration skills and clinical problem solving at an advanced level
  • willingness to participate in research activity and facilitate teaching of all clinical staff
  • understanding and commitment to the principles of quality improvement and relevant standards to achieve quality health care outcomes
  • the ability to develop and implement initiatives to ensure effective delivery of high quality care to patients; and
  • ability to communicate effectively and supervise and manage staff.
