An exciting opportunity is offered for an exceptional individual to lead Mackay Hospital and Health Service (MHHS). MHHS is a high-quality public health service provider that operates with a vision to provide the best rural and regional healthcare. The new MHHS Chief Executive will lead a public health care service by providing strong, innovative, and supportive leadership, with a clarity of vision and ability to deliver quality patient care through an exciting growth period.
The Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac Region offers a diverse and challenging regional role, rich with opportunities and located in the beautiful heart of Queensland. The region boasts stunning rural and coastal landscapes, including the Whitsunday Islands, and is an economic centre for agriculture, tourism and mining sectors, as well as having access to tertiary education facilities.
The Mackay Hospital and Health Service is a contemporary organisation with over 3500 employees and provides extensive health services in a range of regional, community and rural settings to a population of over 180,000. The MHHS region covers Sarina in the south, Clermont in the west, and Bowen and the Whitsunday Islands in the northeast.
MHHS is an independent statutory body with a budget of almost $562 million. It provides the continuum of services, from community-based health services through to range of specialist regional hospital services and across multiple sites.
Mackay is home to health service’s major referral hospital. It is just over an hour north of Brisbane by air, situated on the east coast of Queensland along Great Barrier Reef. It is an exciting time in the future development of the health service, with strong capital investment committed to this growing and diverse region.
