SA Health is committed to delivering a comprehensive and sustainable health system to enhance the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities. The SA Health workforce of more than 30,000 individuals is its most important asset and the long-term sustainability of health care depends on people who are capable and ready to deliver the services and programs that South Australians need in the coming decades.

The Department for Health and Wellbeing provides leadership and direction across the system to support this workforce development, creating an environment that allows service providers to operate successfully and adopt innovative practices and approaches to meet the needs of their communities.

SA Health is now seeking an Executive Director Workforce responsible for setting the strategic workforce agenda for the health system and effectively delivering the full range of workforce services functions for the Department for Health and Wellbeing, leading a team of approximately 67 workforce professionals.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Corporate Services you will be responsible for guiding cohesive leadership and strategic direction in relation to setting the strategic Workforce Agenda for the health system, with applicable leadership to predict and encourage an effective future health workforce.  A 10-year workforce strategy is to be developed, and you will work with the Local Health Networks and key stakeholders to create the conditions for success that will realise the vision and implement the agreed strategy.   

Your strategic thinking and capability to take a system-wide approach to successful workforce reform will be complemented by your proven track record of experience in effectively leading workforce functions in a dynamic and complex organisation and delivering sustainable results in workforce and organisational development. 

Your interpersonal skills will demonstrate your proven ability to communicate with and influence diverse stakeholders to successfully organisational commitment in developing a culture which attracts and fosters a world class health workforce.
