The Executive Director of Operations and Performance position is responsible for providing strategic leadership and management of the Launceston General Hospital, LGH, in Tasmania, Australia. The primary purpose of the role is to ensure the delivery of quality services and to meet the requirements of the Service Plan, Patient Flow & Access, Finance & Budget, and other relevant performance indicators.
A key responsibility of the Executive Director of Operations and Performance is to manage and be accountable for the overall human, physical, and financial assets and information resources to ensure the effective and efficient use of government resources. The position is also expected to lead the development of working relationships with the LGH Executive Management Team, as well as Ward, Unit, and all other LGH departments, to support them in carrying out their role responsibilities. Additionally, the Executive Director of Operations and Performance is required to provide high-level strategic advice to the Chief Executive Hospitals North/North West (CEH NNW).
The Executive Director of Operations and Performance is responsible for providing leadership and establishing goals and strategies for the implementation and ongoing management of major initiatives. This includes workforce planning and profile changes, service development and restructuring, and LGH Master Planning, within the wider framework of the Agency.
Furthermore, the Executive Director of Operations and Performance is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and timeliness of advice. The position is expected to set objectives and manage outcomes for the hospital which align with and contribute to Tasmanian Priorities. The Executive Director of Operations and Performance must also champion a child-safe culture that upholds the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, as the Department is committed to the safety, wellbeing, and empowerment of all children and young people.
The position is also required to exercise delegations in accordance with a range of Acts, Regulations, Awards, administrative authorities, and functional arrangements as mandated by Statutory office holders including the Secretary and Head of State Service.
Overall, the Executive Director of Operations and Performance is expected to comply at all times with policy and protocol requirements, including those relating to mandatory education, training, and assessment. The incumbent is also expected to actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training.
