Chief Executive – Nothern Sydney Local Health District (H23_4237)
Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) is one of the major metropolitan health districts in New South Wales and has responsibility for the health of almost a million residents within its catchment area.
With an annual operating budget of close to $2b and approximately 11,000 staff, NSLHD provides a comprehensive range of hospital and community-based services throughout the district, including its flagship facility the Royal North Shore Hospital, in addition to State-wide services in critical areas such as spinal injury and severe burns.
A highly regarded and exceptionally performing LHD, evidenced by achieving the Ministry of Health’s highest level of performance ratings for the past five years, NSLHD has recently launched its ambitious new Strategic Plan 2022 – 2027, Exceptional Care, Leaders in Research, Partners in Wellbeing.
This plan gives rise to six strategic outcomes for NSLHD:
1. Patients and carers are our partners in their healthcare
2. Safe, high quality connected care
3. Keeping people healthy and well
4. Our staff are engaged and well supported
5. Research, innovation and digital advances inform and improve the delivery of patient care
6. Our services are sustainable, efficient and committed to planetary health
The organisation’s previous Chief Executive has recently been appointed Deputy Secretary Health System Strategy and Policy in the NSW Ministry of Health, however during her tenure she oversaw great changes and successes at NSLHD and leaves a legacy of strong organisational culture, high levels of clinical and consumer engagement, modernised hospitals and facilities, strong relationships with university partners (Sydney, Macquarie, UTS, ACU) and the Sydney North Primary Health Network, a renewed focus on research through the district’s partnership with the Kolling Institute and a strong and rejuvenated fundraising arm, through NORTH Foundation.
The NSLHD Board and Health Secretary now seek to appoint an exceptional new Chief Executive who can continue the transformation and success of NSLHD.
If you have exceptional qualities in leadership, communication and empathy and can evidence a strong track record of success in leading a significant and geographically dispersed healthcare organisation then this is a career defining opportunity not to be missed.
