Chief Executive, Northern NSW Local Health District H23_4354

Northern New South Wales Local Health District (NNSWSLHD) covers approximately 20,732 sq km and serves a growing and diverse population of over 300,000 people living in rural, regional and urban centres, such as Lismore, Grafton, Byron Bay and Tweed Heads.

With a dedicated team of circa 6000 staff and $1bn annual operating budget, the district provides a comprehensive range of services through eight hospitals, four multi-purpose services and twenty one community health centres. This will soon include the Tweed Valley Hospital, a new 5 star green rated state of the art hospital due to open in late 2023. Once opened it will reduce the need for 5,000 patients to travel outside the region each year to receive treatment.

A highly regarded and strongly performing district the current strategic plan, Healthy Community Through Quality Care, is centred around six strategic priorities.

  • 1.Value, Develop and Empower Our People
  • 2.Our Community Values Our Excellent Person-Centred Care
  • 3.Empowering Aboriginal Health
  • 4.Integration Through Partnerships
  • 5.Effective Clinical and Corporate Accountability
  • 6.Champions of Innovation and Research.

NNSWLHD is proudly committed to ensuring the health and wellbeing of its communities and staff and this extends to reducing the environmental impact of the organisation. Wherever possible the district is moving away from using traditional forms of energy production to renewable energy and making more efficient and sustainable use of resources. NNSWLHD also seeks to better understand the health impacts of climate change within the region and what steps can be taken to mitigate them.

The NNSWLHD Board and Secretary for Health now seek to appoint an exceptional Chief Executive who can continue to provide pivotal and strategic leadership across the district.

If you have exceptional qualities in leadership, collaboration, communication and stakeholder engagement and can evidence a strong track record of success in leading a significant and geographically dispersed healthcare organization then this is a career defining opportunity not to be missed.
