Professor Stephen Duckett leaves Queensland Health to take up an appointment in Canada.

Professor Duckett was Secretary of the Australian Health Department from 1994 - 1996 and has held leadership positions in the Victorian Health Department.

Professor Stephen Duckett, the Chief Executive Officer of Queensland Health's Centre for Healthcare Improvement, is leaving Queensland Health to take up a senior appointment in Canada. Prof Duckett will begin work as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Alberta Health Services, on 23 March.
 
He will leave Queensland Health on 27 February. Prof Duckett has been an important member of the Queensland Health Executive Management Team, and his skills and expertise have played a major role in the ongoing improvement of the State's health services. He has also served on the national Health and Hospitals Reform Commission.
 
I congratulate Prof Duckett on his Canadian appointment, which is a clear recognition of his strengths as a world-class leader in health. On a personal note, I would like to thank him for his ongoing support and counsel.

Prof Duckett's position with Queensland Health will be advertised shortly.
