We regard privacy and confidentiality as non negotiable principals in our business. We are bound by and understand the importance of your rights and the privacy of your personal information.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we have put in place to protect your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal information. Our Policy applies to all clients, candidates and prospective employees who provide us with their personal information.

Personal Information

Personal information is any information that can identify you. This includes any opinions about you whether they are true or not.

Sensitive information is a component of personal information and includes: racial/ethnic origin, political opinion and membership, religious belief, trade union membership, sexual preferences, criminal record, health or disability. We will not disclose your sensitive information without your consent unless there is a need to disclose such information in accordance with the Privacy Amendment Act (Private Sector) 2000.
HGI collects personal information for the following purposes:

We collect personal information of job applicants and prospective applicants to facilitate placement and recruitment opportunities for candidates and potential candidates and to deliver the best possible results for our clients. We also collect and use personal information:
  • to provide you with further information about recruitment opportunities or services you request;
  • for assessing and facilitating your application for employment with prospective employers; and
  • for placement processes and recruitment purposes generally.

Personal information we collect and use

Personal information that we collect and use could include your name, date of birth, current address, email address, telephone numbers, work history, performance appraisals, qualifications, health information, personal history, opinions from referees and our assessment of you as a prospective candidate for recruitment.

We will not use your personal information for any purpose which is not related to the service we provide to you or for any purpose for which you would not reasonably expect us to use your personal information.
HGI will make every attempt to ensure that the personal information that we hold is accurate and up to date. You may be contacted from time to time requesting updates on your contact details and your CV. If you think that information about you is not accurate or your details have or are about to change, please advise us and we will correct or update your personal information.

Collection of personal information

We prefer to collect your personal information directly from you. If you feel that the information that we are requesting is not information that you wish to provide, please let us know.

We will also obtain your personal information from other parties including referees and former employers.

For the purposes referred to in this policy we may disclose your personal information to:
  • prospective employers
  • your referees;
  • our clients;
  • our referees;
  • our professional advisors including our accountants, auditors and lawyers; and
  • our related businesses and our contractors

Security of your information

We will take all reasonable steps to ensure the security of your personal information. Electronic information is protected by various security measures and access to information and databases is restricted to HGI staff who need access to the information in order to perform their duties.

Access to your information

Privacy complaint

You have a right to complain and have it investigated by our Privacy Officer if you have any concerns about our privacy practices or our handling of your personal information, including how your personal information is collected or stored; how your personal information is used or disclosed and how access is provided to your personal information.
