Bayside Mental Health Service has approximately 170 FTEs and a $18.6M operating budget. The service provides high quality care to a population in excess of 170,000. With the expected growth in population and the establishment of new facilities within the District, Bayside Mental Health Service is expected to grow at least 55% by the year 2017. Capitol works plans are in progress for a new Community Care Unit to be completed in 2011 and an Adolescent Unit by early 2012.
Care is provided across the age spectrum including child and youth, adult and older persons mental health services. Bayside is also unique in Queensland as it has an extended treatment unit which focuses on Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and ABI / mental health co morbidities rehabilitation.
Specialty areas of service include:
• ACT (Acute Care Team);
• HBACT (Home Based Acute Care);
• Acute Inpatient Facilities ;
• Child Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS);
• Continuing Care Services;
• Casuarina Lodge Extended Treatment Facility;
• Daintree Psychogeriatric Extended Treatment Facility ;
• Primary care and Partnerships Team
• Forensic services
There is some flexibility possible for the successfulll candidate to negotiate on management responsibilities with the recent appointment of a highly experienced mental health manager. The Clinical Director will possses high quality clinical expertise and be capable of working in a management partnership arrangement. The role is the key clinical role responsible for implementing contemporary clinical governance and risk management approaches and leading significant service development.
